The instructors at BGC Glass Studio possess extensive experience in a variety of glassworking techniques, such as glass blowing and flameworking. Each instructor brings a unique expertise and has received both domestic and international training. They are not only highly skilled glass artists but also possess a profound understanding of the scientific and artistic principles of glassmaking. The Glass Blowing workshop at BGC Glass Studio provides participants with a thorough exploration of glassblowing techniques. From foundational knowledge to the creation of diverse glass objects, including cups, bowls, vases, and custom sculptures, individuals will cultivate their unique artistic expression.
A hallmark of glassblowing involves working with molten glass in large furnaces and annealing ovens. This necessitates precise control of breath to manipulate the blowpipe and skilled handling of the heated glass to shape it. This process enables the creation of substantial vessels and objects such as vases and bowls.
The Flameworking workshop at BGC Glass Studio offers a comprehensive exploration of the intricate art of glassworking utilizing a torch. Participants will acquire foundational skills in manipulating small glass rods, enabling them to craft exquisite jewelry or miniature sculptures.
Flameworking is particularly suited for working with small, detailed glass components. Employing a torch, participants will precisely melt glass rods to shape them incrementally. Whether creating necklaces, rings, or miniature sculptures, the capacity to fuse glass at a granular level allows for meticulous control, a defining characteristic of this technique.
